Please be aware that it can take 30+ minutes to park, get through base security, and walk to the drill hall by 8:45 a.m. 6:30 a.m. RTC Gates open to visitors. Recruits meet with guests at drill hall. Recruits and guests transit back to parking area. 8-9 p.m. Liberty expires for recruits. Please drop your recruit at the base early enough for them to walk back to their ship. Some divisions may depart Recruit Training Command a few hours after graduation (Grad and Go). Some divisions may depart RTC the day after graduation. Please discuss liberty with your recruit during their phone calls home. Be sure to ask when they are departing boot camp for their next school. Continue to write your recruit and stay informed. Recruit Training Command Public Affairs does not have your recruit?s schedule. Only your recruit and his/her supervisor know their specific liberty schedule. ________ Buy Glass Pipes Last edited by sweetmtn; 05-08-2011 at 02:40 AM. |

And one more thought/suggestion.....Michael was not told until just a couple of hours before PIR that he was now a grad 'n go, and he wasn't able to let us know this until after the PIR ceremony. We were only able to spend a couple of hours with him out at O'Hare once he was dropped off there. We had made all kinds of plans of what we were going to do while back home in IL, but weren't able to do them. We have long since gotten over this, but just know that it can happen and be prepared for changes in orders at the last minute. It may not happen often, but it does happen.
There's a lot to see and do while you're in the Chicago area so take advantage of all it has to offer. |
