I read on reddit that your RDCs are unlikely to give you E3 if you came into Boot an E1, passed the PFT and DEP test, and then got a job and did shit hot in it. Am I misinformed in thinking that RDCs don't like giving people who came to boot E1, E3? |

Might depend on your RDC. Every single one is different. I've never heard of them not wanting to do it though. Mine were cool with promotions

Correct. Always aim for higher though. And I went in E-1, and came out e-3. So it's possible. But all RDCs are different. Everyone has different backgrounds. Some sailors truly want others to succeed if they are working for it. Some people had a bad experience and believe everyone should go through the same. Luck of the draw. |

There are a few ways to rank up before/ during bootcamp. During bootcamp you can pass both your PFA and DEP test to advance from e-1 to e-2 (not e-2 to e-3). Toward the end of bootcamp 10% of the division will receive meritorious advancment if you are e-1 or e-2. Prior to bootcamp there are many ways to advance that i'm not going to describe.
