All of my research was done via Google. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjob1/a/ag.htm was just one site on many, you can also check out Navygirl.org as well as current "AG" Facebook Pages.

My son has only ever done the meteorology side of the rating - never the oceanography part.

No problem. Being a smaller rating is what he really likes about being one. That plus the fact that the AG's have to let you know whether things are good to go with whatever is planned and if the weather conditions aren't good/desirable, they will be the ones that tell you it's a no-go.

Yup, he's traveled with his job, but hard to believe he's not done so on a ship as yet.

He's been to a few places while he was gone that he probably wouldn't have gone to otherwise. His schooling didn't just end with A and C school.
