So, I know the advancement is slow in HM. I knew that before I even signed in after doing my research before hand.

Here is my question:

What is the longest you've heard of someone sitting at E-3? And I must preface this wife, not the guys the screw around and just sit there. I mean for the ones that are trying and taking their exams.

Until they hit high year tenure at 5 years.

I went to boot camp in may of 2012. I'm now an AC2 and all the HMs that were in my division are still E-3s except one who is an HM3. The quotas (percentage of test takers advanced) for last exam were HM3 11.53%, HM2 10.3% HM1 7.14%. Just to compare, AC3 was 76%, AC2 66.15%, AC1 20.77%.

Wow, I knew it was slow, I just didn't think it'd be THAT slow!

^this like.. even if youre a damn genius and score in like the 99% your first time testing, you're likely to get a P or MAYBE an MP eval if you're a fresh boot (due to the volume of people you get compared to), and your competition goes into it with college credts (which you can't take till after a year), awards (which take time to get nominated for), and PNA points from just taking the test like 5 times before you even get to try.

Youre basically screwed if youre a corpsman, youre about 50 points behind the curve before you even get a chance and likely wont pick up

well, at least they got rid of PNA points, along with many other award points.
