Default questions on dep

My son leaves 20130124 his recruiter does not contact him, My son also sent several requests to him to contact a friend who might be interested but he never contacted him, We know its 6 months to go he is in shape should he be concerned or just wait till he ships he will start studying the creed and sentry in December no sense doing that now.

I find this strange as well, every recruiting station I know has the DEPers check in with them at least once each week, and have DEP meetings once a month. I would have him go to the recruiting station and have a "sit down" with his recruiter and if no response, get in touch with the area command to find out what it up.

Heck, my division has a DEP meeting once a week, has an RCPO (Me), ARCPO, MA, and Section Leaders, and requires the Section Leaders to assign future sailors to stand watch in the office Monday-Wednesday (Only recently suspended because 80% of our division left for RTC in June). And our nearby brother division is even more hardcore than we are... they meet twice a week!

I agree with AVSailor. The earlier you start studying now, the better prepared you will be for basic. His recruiter should be checking him in for DEP meetings (about once a week), if not it's important that he calls them. The more you know about RTC, the better.

We had an AM talk to us at our last DEP meeting who just finished her A School... she said RTC could no longer do the 8-count body builders. Dunno if that's confirmed though.

Are the 8 count body builders part of PT or for IT? Is there even any difference between the two?

I also heard they took away 8 counts from a recent sailor who finished a school a few weeks ago.

Very strange that there is no contact from the recruiter, it is his responsibility if you end up getting in trouble or become DQed for some reason. We have to call 3 times a week and meet 2 times a month.
