Haha, thank you for answering my questions! Super excited about going in, and I'm less worried about the DLI now.

ha yea sorry I am a downer on the food! Just wasn't for me. I was also up the hill so bela's apparently was worse then the other one.

DLI is what you make it. Biggest advice it just know what makes you relax and make sure you fit that in your life so you aren't going crazy.

I didn't end up with spanish but to be honest I almost did (my original dlab score was low) but the liaison at meps sold me on. Working with regards to warm tropical places would have been a plus but alas not what I got. I love what I got though so its not that bad. You may get a sort of "choice" if you are in one of the first divs of your group to go through. and when I say choice its more like well what do you want? ooohh ok well we only have a and b so choice or yeaaa youre going to get A. -_-

I am shore and its been pretty chill so far. Kinda which I had gotten dirsup since sailors should be on ships but there is always a next time.

You'll enjoy DLI though. Beware of underage drinking (lots of issues while I was there and the last few months I have been gone) and places like the bull and bear (formerly the mucky duck) as they are ways people get in trouble quickly!

Good luck!

Default "A" school start dates

Anybody have any information about when the "A" schools start.

Once a year? Twice a year? etc.

Specifically looking for info on the Chinese program. That is the one I'm shooting to get into.

Depends on how many people they're pushing through. Also, you most likely won't start school anyway right when you get there and will be waiting for a class to start regardless. So just focus on getting qualified first. If you get a slot, they'll take care of the school dates for you.

I was a unicorn and got to start as soon as I got there! Most people are on hold in the sailorization division for a month or so. There are numerous classes for every language ever fiscal year.... my school house was small and had almost 10 a year but it is integrated with other branches.

Dont get your hopes up to get what you want language wise though. When I was in RTC and we got assigned our languages I had two options that I did not want. He still asked our top three and I told him. I ended up lucking out and getting my 2nd choice and I couldn't be happier. and out of the large group I graduated RTC with only 1 person got chinese.

End game: Hope for the best expect the worst! Good luck!
