Question Has anybody recently been in a 900 division?!

I've played trumpet for 8 years and will be saying so when asked at boot camp. What is the audition like??

I am not sure, my son was in a 900 division, but was in "flags" not music, even though he played in honor band in school. They never asked him to audition for the band part, just put hm on flags.

Do you know if he liked it? I know they do extra work than the other recruits but is there a better bond with the RDC? Are they as mean as other RDCs or are they more lenient?

Well, he said it really didnt make anything any easier if thats what you are asking...was actually harder as more work and didnt give you anything like extra perks. And yes, the RDC's are NOT any easier on you just cause you are in a 900 division. The fact was they wanted you to be MORE perfect...

RDCs are harder on 900 divisions than other divisions. They expect perfection. 900 doesn't get any special privileges and works a lot harder than any other division in boot camp.

Should I assume there's no getting out of 900 since I'm an MU? (i.e. the RDCs will already know that I can play an instrument?)

lol from what I saw at basic the 900 divs spent less time PTing and ITing and more time doing drill. We used to make fun of the 900 divs during PT sessions. When the RDC would say "Relax" after completion of an exercise we would all chant: "This aint no 900 div! This aint no band camp!"
lol

you dont have to be in a 900 div if you dont want. At some point throughout your first night there during your initial issue you will be in a classroom and an RDC will come in asking if anyone has any band talent or rifle experience or whatever. If you dont want to be in the 900 div dont say anything. Those people who said something will be taken out and places with there divisions after issue and you will stay behind and be placed with a normal 000-300 division

900's PT just as much and get IT'd just as much. When they don't get IT'd its for not screwing up, cause the RDC's demand perfection. 900 PTs 6 days a week same as rifle land. The difference is 900 does drill on Saturday and does work on Saturday, well rifle land field days and gets extra practice time for inspections.
