Default RTC- breaks, yelling, graduation.

What is going on everybody. Couple questions.
1. Are there breaks at RTC, bathroom, shaving, phone calls?
2. Honestly, How is the yelling, is there a lot or does it vary by RDC?
3. How does graduation work, is there liberty prior like going into Chicago, or is that afterwards, and how long does graduation last?

Well, let me see if I can answer these for you:
#1 breaks..not in the sense you are thinking. yes you can go the the bathroom if you really need to, but if you are in class or in the middle of some training thing..LOL Phone calls, you earn them...other than that first phone call home when you arrive there.

#2 yelling..yes it COULD depend on the RDC, and if your division sucks at stuff, you all will pay the price.

#3 No liberty before your PIR/graduation...if I remember, it takes a couple of hours and depends on how many are in your PIR to graduate. THEN you are given time with your family..however if you are grad-n-go, you can move to your new A school(if still at Great Lakes) and you can spend the weekend with family. If you have to travel to your A school, you have til about 2000 hrs(8 o'clock) then back to boot for the night then released to family again in the morning..BUT you can have watch duty and loose time with family, or your division can get in trouble and loose time with family...

Question

One thing I love about this website is how many questions I've never thought about that get answered and help me out.

You say we have until about 2000 to get back to boot if we're leaving for "A" School, does that mean we get to leave boot with our family and come back?

If so, what time does PIR usually end? How much time could we expect to spend with our family if we leave?

Graduation ends around 1000-1030 depending on the number of divisions graduating and how much the guest speaker (usually an admiral) wants to listen to the sound of his own voice. The final moments of graduation are liberty call, they call liberty you get to break ranks and you are on liberty. On liberty you can go anywhere with your family and do just about anything with a few rules (no alcohol even if of age, have to stay in uniform, no bringing cell phones back, no tobacco, etc). Your liberty will expire at a certain time and at that time you are required to be IN YOUR COMPARTMENT (Not on base, not in your ship, not on your way to your ship, in your divisions compartment). The actual time your liberty expires depends on your RDCs and your division. Standard is 2000 for a graduating division, 2100 for a CNO Honor Division, and 2200 for a hall of fame division (which one you are depends on your scores in boot camp). Your RDCs and ships officer may modify this however. You will have a brief before graduation (usually with the ships officer) and you will be told all the rules for liberty and when you need to be back, and give you some different places you may want to go with your family.

Your liberty will expire every night you have left at RTC that weekend at the same time. If you are staying in Great lakes you will move then be placed on liberty based on your new commands liberty rules. If you are leaving Great Lakes your liberty will expire at the same time every night until you leave. The vast majority will be flying out to A School on Saturday morning (they load you on a bus to leave at around 1am and you get to sit at the airport in the USO. Your family can visit you there and once at the airport you can get your cell phone and such back if you like. If you leave Sunday or Monday you will be placed on liberty each day at a set time (8am is the normal as I recall) and your liberty will expire in the compartment at the same time as Friday.
