The capping ceremony ends at 0800 I think... my division made our phone calls later that afternoon/evening. I know of some situations where divisions haven't made them until the next day.

Well, it'll depend on where they are in their graduating group. Generally I'd guess anywhere between 2 to 7 days before their graduation date. If you know the division number you can guesstimate a bit better (say the divisions graduating on a given day are 001 - 010. 001 will go first, so they're likely to be calling about a week before graduation. 010 will be last, but they can't be running BS and graduation back to back, so probably 2 or 3 days before graduation for them.)
And special circumstances do apply . . . I never got one of those calls because I was on med hold for ages and missed my graduation date. Right after I finished BS I got sent over to the graduated sailors hold division. No call, no graduation ceremony, although I did do the capping ceremony with the division I straggled with. |
