Default HM - Which NEC do you want?

I was just curious what other HM's want as an NEC if they were to have the choice. I know that choice is limited and based on class rank, but I know we all have a desire. I would like SARC, XRay Tech, Respiratory Tech or Surgical Tech, but I am looking into some others.

Also, post your ship dates, you never know we may find some of us will be at A-School or BC together.

I ship 20140217.

Dive tech or 8404. Something more out there than the regular hospital and medical jobs. Maybe even SARC if given the chance.

I've been eyeing SARC too, you have any details on how you go about joining. Is it while you are in A-School. 8427 or 8404

Not necessarily an indicator of anything, but all the SARC candidates I saw going through NACCS were HM2 or higher... all but one was former FMF and had bigger ribbon racks than many instructors.

The SARC my husband and I are friends with went straight to training out of Corps School. That was years ago though and he was an EMT in the civilian world so I don't know if that had any significance.

From what I read an E-1 can go through NACCS. I'm sure the HM2s and higher had a better advantage though when it came to the schooling aspect of it.

1st. Surgical Tech
2nd. Cardio
3rd. Nuke Med

Still tossing the idea of asking my recruits for a reclass to regular HM...

I'm going to be a Reservist, I'm looking to get FMTB guaranteed in my contract at MEPS. Once I get through if I don't end up getting used as an 8404 I'll see what C schools come down the pipeline and get into one of those... I'm not counting on the Navy to have funds to send Reservists to C school, due to the sequester, so I'm just hoping that I get FMTB and can work with that.

Other than that I'm honored to serve as an HM in any capacity.
