Default The Site Rules...

All Forums have rules... Just like "Good Fences, makes Good Neighboors", we make our rules public so others will know them prior to joining our little piece of the Navy Cyber Space forums.

Much like a legal document, we put these rules out their so there is no confusion. We are truly a great bunch of people and love having a good time...Come and join us, we love talking Navy and about everything else too...

------------------------ The Rules ------------------

While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.

Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or the such.

Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.

Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members.

We also do not allow posts that are pornographic in nature or violate Navy Families community standards. The Navy Families team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards

Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.

Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed

We do not allow members to share their accounts or user names. Only one person is permitted to use an account or user name.

We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.

If you are going to post non-English on these forums, also post an English Translation of your post. Posts that don't have the English translation will be deleted. It's a respect thing.

Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

We are here for the Deppers, Sailors, and their families. We want our Sailors (and their families) to gather all the information they can, ANYWHERE they can. Unlike most forums, we welcome our active forum member to post links to other websites. However, we need to prevent members from registering just to post links to other websites. There is a big difference between posting a link to help the crew, compared to one that is for personal gain. Such posts will be subject to removal.

You cannot post advertisements or notices for contests. We are not Ebay. We are a Sailor forum. We will allow limited sales of personal items, as long as it doesn't turn into a business.

Navy Families will be run as a Non-Profit website. We are not a business, we are a site to help sailors. However, running a website does cost money, and yes, we will eventually will have a link to our preferred business supporters and a donate button. The way I see it, for example, if you need flight to Great Lakes for their graduation ceremony (PIR), then search the web, find the lowest price, then check our affilate links and compare the price. If it meets or beats the lowest price you found, just use Navy Families link so we earn the finders fee. Not only do you get the lowest possible price, but you are also supporting this site for years to come. If any profit is made, Navy Families will donated it back to our sailors. I find it fun to actually help those in the Navy.

We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules, as access to our forums are a privilege and not a right.

Advertising Services and Solicitation

We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise or solicit any products, services, funds, other forums or donations. Explicit advertising and solicitating in signatures is also prohibited. However, if it promotes other sites that purpose is to help our sailors (ie not a business), then those will be permitted.

Do not discuss illegal activities. Our server is hosted in the USA and so is subject to US law. Please do not expose us to any unnecessary legal liability.


User Names

No part of the forum name can be used as a username

No member may use any part of a staff members username

No member can have a username that is close to, or could be confused with a staff members username or position (ie Administator, Moderators).

Avatars

are limited to a size

Avatars that may be confused with official staff avatars are not allowed.


Signature Rules

We reserve the right to ask you to change and/or remove your signature or avatar at any time, for any reason.

No spammy or marketing links are to be used in signatures.

Any signature or avatar that is offensive or insulting to either us, our members, or our staff, are prohibited.

All signatures should not exceed the following size limits The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 100 pixels or 9.8 KB (whichever is smaller). you can't have both text and images

Most of all:
  • Keep all commentary civil, and be courteous at all times. Constructive criticism is welcome, but insults directed towards other users or the site admins will not be tolerated. Coarse/insulting language will not be tolerated.
  • No commercial advertising is permitted.
  • Any posts deemed to be self promotion, advertising, or spam can and will be removed. NO SPAM - NO ADVERTISING eg. Posting and making excessive, inappropriate and unnecessary references to your products and websites is self promotion.
  • This is not the place to settle a disagreement or to be a 'wall of shame'. Any posts deemed to be of this nature will be removed. Settle your disputes in private please.
  • No Pornographic images are allowed to be posted on this site
  • If you feel a post violates any of these rules, or you need to bring it to the attention of a moderator (move threads/close/split), please use the ‘report to modertor’ link to notify the moderators.
Failure to abide by these rules may result in an editing, negative moderation or deletion of your post. We reserve the right to ban abusers from the site. We reserve the right to change these rules at any time.
