Default First letter from son!

Hello Everyone,
Just received our first letter from our son at RTC. He is doing well and hanging tough and very determined to make it. He said 4 recruits have been sent home so far. He loves the food and hates I.T., which he has had the pleasure to experience 7 times so far. He said he has been able to stay under the radar so far and everyone is helping each other, which is the way it should be. Here's hoping and praying he can make it another 4 1/2 weeks.

YIPPEEE for letters! Now that you got your first one, look for one each week on the same day...yes I "stalked" the mailman each week!

Ha-Ha that's funny sweetmtn. My wife and I have been trying to beat each other to the mail box everyday. I won this time. It looks like my son combined about three letters into one. LOL! It was great hearing from him and knowing that he is doing okay! We have all his friends and old co-workers writing him. He said they really look forward to mail call.

He did say that one went to medical with 5 warts on his hand and was told that medical was for recruits that were really sick and was sent packing. May be more to that story.
Another one decided to pack his stuff up one night and decided to leave. They obliged him the following day. I guess it's not for everyone. Not sure about the other two. I am aware from a friend of ours, who's son went in a couple weeks before our son that they had four recruits stand during the "moment of truth". Only one returned to continue.

sounds like it was for stuff that those recruits should have taken care of before boot camp, but that's good to know. thanks for sharing.

I know all of us stalked the mailman when we'd see them coming down the street. You live for those letters and I still have everything that he sent us. Now it's waiting for the next email or Skyping each other.

Hey futuresailor,
There is a pretty good video on YouTube titled advice for Navy boot. It's a honest view from a young man who was medically discharged. He gives some good advice. Hopefully the link will work if not just search for Advice for Navy boot camp.

Ha-Ha vabchsue, so true. I just wrote our son Nick another letter. He has been able to call home four times since being at RTC (once was for clearance info). I haven't been able to talk to him yet. I was at work when he called my cell last night. It was nice to hear his voice on the voice mail he left me. My wife is always the lucky one who gets to talk with him.

That's good futuresailor, from what our son has said, he is struggling with the running portion of the PRT a little bit. And he's in pretty good shape. LOL

I think that I'm really clsoe to being in shape to pass the initial PFA. Currently I can do 70 curl ups, 34 push ups, and my mile and a half time is only 2 minutes over the time that i need which is 12:53, since I will be 25 years old by the time that I leave for boot camp. Although I still need to lose 12 pounds in order for my weight and height to be proportional to each other. I've already lost 11 pounds since I joined the Navy in May.
