Rate change to CTT, what do I need to know

I am changing rates from an ETV to CTT, I leave in a few weeks for schooling . There aren't a ton of CTTs that I can talk to around the subs in Norfolk so I am wondering if any of y'all could help. Any basic details on how the class is/how it works would be great. And I want to know where I can get stationed, I really don't want Norfolk again (it's a shithole area), I am really hoping for the west coast to be closer to home or Japan (if I can get stationed there). Anything would be appreciated.

I personally do not know any CTT's, I do know a couple of CTI's, Have you asked your command this question?
