Phone cards for bootcamp
Hey guys, I can't seem to find the phone cards we are going to need. All I come across are cell phone cards.. maybe I'm not asking for the right thing. Can anyone help with this?

You want one like this:
Any of the big retailers (walmart, target, amazon) should sell them.

That was an easy question - I have one in my wallet as we speak...
(also, there is also an organization called Calls for Recruits, that will give you a free phone card. These cards are only good for one call, so you'll still want a normal phone card)

For the I first call home you can either use your cell phone, if you brought it, or use someone else's phone. They have you all lined up and tell you to call home say you made it then hang up an then let the person next to you use your phone if they don't have one.

I know there are actually several types of phone cards that are good..you really dont need one that has a ton of minutes on it..but REMEMBER..activte it prior to going to boot!

They also have machines that sell phone cards right there in the room with the phones as well as the nex where the phones are. Some of your calls can be anywhere from 30-60 minutes long depending on your rdc's so it's a good idea to have one the has a decent amount of minutes on it. I brought one with 120 minutes and ended up having to buy another one while I was there.

So, the only time that you will get to use your cellphone is for the initial call home. Any other time that you make calls home will be from the payphones at the NEX which require a calling card. You can bring one with you if you want or you will have the opportunity to buy one at the NEX. I bought one there for $20 and it had 408 minutes on in. So it will last a while.

Some of them don't need to be activated. But of it does, you can call them anytime to activate it.

Thanks.
I tried today to activate it, called the number and said the PIN is invalid. Went to AT&T retailer, they told it's for prepaid cell phones... Went back to the gas station where they won't refund my $10 because it's not refundable. The guy who sold me there told me it will be good for "public street phones" (I asked for that) so I lost the $10. I hope at the NEX I can buy the right card. I am leaving in the next days... |
