I have a question regarding the 4 people you can have at your graduation. Say you choose your 4 and write their info down on "the list" during boot camp. What if one of the ones on that list can't make it? During boot camp, can you edit your list?

Not really as by the time you can give them a list and you get a response from your family, there may not be any time. Not sure if they allow a replacement at the door or not...

You finalize "the list" about a week to 10 days before PIR, so you will be able to fix it if you know by then. Also thats the time where you can "borrow" a shipmates guest spot if they have an extra. A few guys only had 3 people coming so the guys with 5 coming just put the 5th down on a shipmates extra slot (with their permission of course) your guest just need to be sure they know your shipmates name because they are listed under them.

Does anyone know if children count towards the 4 people?

I guess it's just children 12 and under. Got too many guests...

Children under 12 and Military Members attending IN UNIFORM do not count towards your 4 guests

When we attended PIR in August of 2010, 10 of us traveled to GL. Four were on the list but because the graduating class was small (800+) the remaining 6 of our group were seated after all of the guests on the list. Good luck and enjoy the day. It's certain to be a memorable event.

Here is the official rules:
http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/fam_guide.asp Note: You cannot edit the names. However, I've only seen about 3 times in 4 years where not everyone was allowed in. Those times the PIR groups were like 14 divisions. So I wouldn't worry at all. The people on the list just need to get in early and reserve seats for those that have to wait.

Craig, what happens though when you are in boot camp and have already written down the 4 names, and one on the list can't make it out to Chicago for whatever reason? At that point, could I alter the list while still in BC?

You can't change it once its finalized, but it doesn't get finalized until week 6 or 7, so you should know for sure by then.

Oh okay, as long as I can still change it. I didn't know if it was a one time deal at the beginning or not.
