They're not going to care if you're E-3. They treat all recruits the same regardless of pay grade. I'm going in as E-3 too.

The best description I've heard is, you will be doing the same push ups as everyone else, you jest get paid more per push up.

How can you go in as anything except an E-1?

College credits, passing a test, or getting a certain number of people to join.

You probably won't hear anything about being an E-3 from your RDCs... mine didn't even realize I was an E-3 until they tried to promote me... turned out 80% of the recruits they chose to promote were E-3s, so they only promoted like 3 people.

If you want a leadership position, show them that you can shut up and pay attention to instructions... you're first few days are going to be nothing but stenciling your name and division number on everything you're issued... and you won't believe how many people screw that up. I caught Chief's eye because I didn't screw it up and already knew recruit handwriting, so she gave me a few small jobs while others had to stand in the "I'm stupid" line to have their stenciling corrected. When I was able to handle those jobs, she gave me PWSL.
