Uniforms issued in Bootcamp
Can anyone tell me what uniform items females get issued in bootcamp? I ship on Jan 12 and am going to be packing boxes for my parents to send as I get to the different phases in A School. I'll be going to Monterey, so I'm trying to figure out if I'll need a rain coat/jacket once I get to phase 2 and can wear my own clothes or if they'll issue the all-weather coat at boot camp/if I'll have to buy it at Monterey. What about the parka or a winter coat? I assume we'll need something at RTC in January.
Also, are we allowed to buy optional uniform items at bootcamp? I want that peacoat... |

As far as outerwear goes, you'll be issued a peacoat, an all weather coat (aka raincoat) + liner, and a nwu pattern parka + liner. Plus 2 sets of gloves, watch cap, scarf, and ski mask in winter months.
The main optional things are the sweater and Eisenhower jacket worn with NSUs. And skirts/heels. You won't be able to buy those at RTC, but there's a NEX at NPS. Also, you won't need a raincoat in Monterey. I spent 18 months there and it rained lightly maybe 2 or 3 times. California's been in a state of drought for a while now. |

Ah, the POM website said not to bring bikes because it's too damp to store them outside so I figured it was a sort of dreary/foggy type climate like San Francisco can be. Thanks, though!

I would advise against a bike simply because the base is set into the side of a steep hill, it isn't very conducive to biking. Get a car or take the bus, it's free to board on base.
Don't get me wrong, it is foggy. But it's way too dry to rust anything. Hawaii on the other hand . . . |

Being we are in an El Nino year...right now we have finally had more rain and such so far than all of the last few years together...yes it is VERY foggy there at times! I used to live in the Monterey area...if you find you need a rain coat after you get there then get one..but don't worry yet. Were I live now I am FINALLY getting snow...so far this morning I have 4 inches and it is still coming down! whoo hoo...a white Christmas!
