Do you have a scuba license?

Also, can you pop your ears easily? If you have trouble with that, find ways to practice it. You are not going to have a fun time as a diver if you cant pop your ears easily.

My dad and I can sort of click our ears to pop them, as near as I can tell it is a muscle in my throat that squeezes the eustachian tube and sort of "pumps" the pressure. But not many people can do that.

When I took scuba in college the number one holdup for people when we finally got to the pool was not buoyancy, but ear popping. Some people just could not get their ears to pop no matter what, and so they could not really go more than 10-15 feet down.
