Today's ASW AW's are flying the P-8. A few VP squadrons still have P-3's in the inventory, but they are being phased out for the newer P-8's.
The VP folks flying them still use pretty much the same titles (SS2, SS3, TACCO, etc).
If your son wants to do that same job, he needs to get into the AW rating and go AWO after NACCS. From there he will be assigned to a VP squadron and will be flying the P-8.
