Second, the Chief at my local recruiter says that getting into the STA-21 program while in the pipeline is pretty easy. He says to apply, and if I am denied just re apply and they will probably accept me. What are the chances of getting an appointment to the Naval Academy for a nuke?

I am really thinking that the Nuclear Power field is where I want to go, I just want to make sure I know everything I can before I actually decide for sure.

Thanks for any replies, it is helpful having a place to go and find people with actual experience.
They have told us that getting into the naval academy is at about 80% acceptance for us. However, no one I know has been picked up for it yet. The STA 21 is a little more competitive they say. A lot of guys have applied for that and we find out who gets accepted in/around October.

I can only speak for the stress you face in the school. They throw a lot at you that your expected to pick up and know. A lot of times you only have X amount of time to learn it. So some people stress out about that. It's been my experience that this school is what you make it. If you put forth the effort and study hard the stress is very minimal.
