Generally it is about 3 to 4 days, but it can be longer if they don't have enough to make an full division. The time the 8 weeks starts probably has changed since my son went, and it could be shorter if put in a "push" division.
As for how many can attend PIR, it is 3..period..if there are fewer divisions, it MIGHT be raised to 4..and yes, your recruit must put the names of the 3 on the list allowed.
