Once you get into the fleet, no body cares what you did in bootcamp. With that being said, I do think there are benefits to being in a 900, if for no other reason than it adds variety to your bootcamp experience. Going to rehearsals on Saturday mornings were pretty much the highlight of my bootcamp experience. I also enjoyed performing for the PIRs prior to my own, and I'm also glad I didn't have to stand for the entire grad in the 'cattle call' (with all the graduating divisions). You also have one less marching inspection.
The downside of being in a 900 is that I was in a push division and had a very, very busy/compact schedule. But then again, being so busy made the days go by quicker.
