You definitely can switch to Undes, and it might push your shipdate closer. It's hard to say though - the average wait is about 6 months navy-wide , and undes is a little bit less. You're already down to 4ish, so it might not get you there any sooner.
Also realize that undes is considered a relatively undesirable job for a reason - you will most likely be doing heavy labor and cleaning. You will also not be able to advance until you strike for a job and finish its A school - there is no such thing as an Undes Petty Officer.
