In general Navy flies Jets (aside from harriers, thats USMC); and the Marines fly the choppers (not exclusively, there's lots of Navy chopper guys too), thats just a general observation. The Marines use Navy guys for Medics (Corpsmen), use Navy Chaplains (Officers, priests), and Navy RP's (Religious Program Specialist; they're pretty much body guards for Chaplains as well as help them with getting their mission done). If you see names KIA navy wise, its usually Corpsmen, RP's, SEALs, EOD, and personnel that are on loan to the other branches (not so much any more). Marine boot is all combat centered because thats their primary mission, Navy is focused on seamanship our primary mission. While some things overlap, like PT, and weapons; most does not. We learn Firefighting, they learn to eat MRE's and live in the field. We learn seamanship, they learn hand to hand combat. It doesn't really make sense to train for something most personnel won't do. Those that will be fighting (SEALs, EOD, RP, Etc) will get the combat side in A School.
