You are only probably going to get very generic information since a lot of it is classified. Best bet is to do what I did and find some one on facebook that is willing to email you that is currently there. They still stay with in opsec and I get my fill on what to expect when I get out to Monterey so its a win win. Also if you want to learn about the are like I said last night Dam Neck is the base... the city it is in is Virginia Beach, Virginia, so just research Virginia Beach. There's a fair amount to do around here but its definitely not the most adventurous area. Any who you'll enjoy it as long as you don't get involved with anyone or anything stupid! Have fun!

There is a lot to see and do in Virginia Beach (also known as Hampton Roads). Being here in the summer season can be a lot of fun. Check out the beaches and basically the Oceanfront (especially in the summertime).

ha I grew up in Norfolk and live in Virginia Beach and actually work at the ocean front right now. I've just been here so long it has gotten boring. I am in need of new adventures and I can't wait for Monterey!

I grew up in the Chicago area and would love to move back there but that's not in the cards right now. I still say get out and explore where you are living and get some new perspective on things. :happyfeet:

Haha its not that bad. Its just like life anywhere... watch who you make friends with and where you hang and you will be golden. and don't let some girl talk you into marrying her 3 months into a relationship! Its not too big of an issue but again a lot of people just make stupid decisions. Thats all.

my last girlfriend tried it after the second date.. so this is a step up

Just to let you know - don't think that this only happens in VB. Anywhere that there's a base whether it's Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc., it occurs. I met my husband when he was in C school at Great Lakes and we've been married for over 20 years. And he wasn't in the Navy for 20 years either.:happyfeet:
