FMTB Out of A School

I was wondering how likely it is to pick up orders to got to FMTB and hopefully a MarDiv right out of A school? With the wars winding down I'm not sure if they will still want to train battlefield corpsman for the FMF. Can anyone shed some light on this?

FMTB is a school that Corpsman have to go through if they want to work with the Marines, period. Whether that be in Afghanistan, somewhere off the U.S. or just a being the 'doc' for a Marine unit in NC. If you want to work with the Marines, you have to go through a Marine medical school.

FMF Corpsman is not just a battlefield Corpsman. A FMF Corpsman is a HM who works with Marines, regardless of where they are stationed and their job. It is not a combat title. You can just do sick call for Marines and still be a FMF HM.

As for going to hazardous areas, there are certainly not as many HM's needed for places like Afghan. Technically we're not even at war right now. But, if there are Marines in Afghan then there's going to be HM right behind. Only way to know is when it comes to picking orders when you finish A-school.

Orders change constantly so it's near impossible to determine what's available and not.
