Out of the 317, 464 there are only 3500 (appox.) are DC men. That is 1.1%, pretty rare job.

so what would be the chances of me getting a contract as a dc?

No one here can tell you. Even your recruiter can't tell you.

The available billets (jobs) change daily, this information goes directly to the career counselors at MEPS.

The biggest challenge with getting DC is that it is a fairly small community, so there aren't a lot of openings.

I am a damage controlman.

There isn't any way to tell what your chances are. But check your scores to see if you qualify first. When I went I was offered quite a few engineering rates to choose from, dc being one of them.
