IS in the reserves

Does anyone have information about what Reserves IS do on drill weekends and their 2 weeks? Also any knowledge of average activation frequency and lengths.

After C school you go home and go to drill once a month. "what type of work do you do"? depends. some get real work. some clean or do paperwork. depends on your reserve station. They also pick your NEC C school. you dont.

How much IS work you'll be doing will really revolve around what mission your unit is supporting, what your sites capabilities are (you likely won't be working out of the NOSC, but in a SCIF somewhere nearby) and what you're trained for.

Once you get to your unit, start working on your qualifications ASAP. Just because you go through A/C-school doesn't actually mean you're qualified to do anything. All your qualifications will be done once you actually get to your unit. Once you're actually qualified, THEN you can really get into the more meaty work.

Nobody online will be able to tell you specifically what you'll be doing, how you do it, ect, because as an IS, obviously your work is classified. So just expect to be mostly in the dark until you're at A-school. It sucks, but that's the nature of working with classified matieral.
