Household stuff after prototype
Since there was no barracks at prototype, what generally happens to all the household furniture one acquired while in apartments? Will the Navy ship it all to next duty station? As an E4, would you probably have to move back into barracks at duty station? Thanks

I am not a Nuke, but there was a Nuke who I first knew from my division in bootcamp who I ran into 2 years later when we both got to our first duty station (Yay for really long A school pipelines!). We were both in barracks there. In fact, I think he spent longer than expected in barracks because even though he picked up E5 not long after (based on the test, not STAR reenlistment) he wound up going out on deployment before he was paid and able to move offbase.
I don't know how much stuff he had from prototype or what he did with it, but I got a household goods shipment (and I was in barracks for all of A school), so I suspect he did as well. |

Generally unaccompanied E4s are going to be in the BEQ. Nukes tend to advance rather quickly to E5 though and, depending on the command, may then be encourage to find other housing.
In prototype it is best to simply not acquire too much stuff. There is a constant rotation of Sailors through prototype, so it is always possible to get used stuff through thrift and sell most of it later. When my son left, everything he had fit in the back of his small SUV. |
