Could one of you active duty guys please explain what this means? I know ETN/ETR/ETV were already in common usage, at least I had seen the abbreviations before and knew about the distinction. So is this mainly an administrative change having something to do with personnel systems?

I think it's more of an admin change. Allows more specific meaning levels for different skill sets. Also allows for more specific promotion for the different ratings. If there are three different types of jobs and they weren't split up, it would be harder to tell who should be promoted to cover those different jobs. With the separation in place, they can be more specific with who they promote.

It's just an admin change. Sailors won't see anything new really and all the standard programs still apply.
The reason they broke them up like this was to get a better handle on the admin and training pipelines. It won't have any noticeable affects on anyone entering those rates/programs or those already in it. /r CTT1 |
