Life as an IT?

Just curious what is life like as an IT either on shore or on a ship?
Any current ITs or retired?

Everyone's experience is different so no matter what people say, your path will probably not be the same. IT's work on comms gear as operators, you don't fix them or troubleshoot them just operate. Some IT's work on ADP side of things which is more computer side of things. Our IT's on my ship put in longer hours then we did and we worked 10 hour days typically. The shore command I'm at now IT's do 12 on/12 off 5 days a week.
