Age at RTC?
I will be turning 20 at RTC during P days.
Is there a different standard for PFTs? I havent seen one for 19 year olds. If anyone can, could you post the differences if any? Thanks |
I believe there's a slightly higher standard for 17-19, but obviously you don't need to worry about it since you'll be joining the 20-24 bracket.

off the top of my head:
17-19 (alpha) run time 12:30 male, 15:00 female 50 situps 19 pushups female, 50ish male 20-24 (bravo) run time 13:00 male, 15:30 female 46 situps 16 pushups female, probably 45ish male But if your birthday's in pdays you won't have to worry about doing anything in alpha time, you don't get cleared to pt until near the end of pdays. |
In boot camp, the RDC's expect everyone to make time and everything based on the Alpha male standards. Yes, you only need your age group in reality, but you'll hear it from the RDC's if you pass your bravo time but are short of the Alpha time. Like my RDC's always said "EVERYONE will do 50 sit ups, 50 push ups, and the mile and a half in under 12:30. EVERYONE WILL. Do you all understand?"

The push ups always get me everything else is easy

So in bootcamp men HAVE to run 1.5 mile in 12:30 and women HAVE to run in 15:00? OR everyone has to do the male alpha time?
Because 12:30 sounds like a reach for me. I'll be in Charlie female group, and my best 1.5 mile is 15:15 so I was hoping I was good. |
That's the whole point of the different standards...if you're a male of X age, you have to make the males-of-ages-X-to-Y standard. If you're a female of X age, you have to make the females-of-ages-X-to-Y standard. Your RDC can holler and make all the noise he wants for the sake of motivating you, but he can't use standards that don't apply to you.
