Best/Worst Possible CTT Duty Stations

Hey everyone. I was just curious because I ship off to RTC on April 5th as a 6 year CTT, and I was just wondering what some of the best and worst possible duty stations there are; whether based off of personal experience or what you've heard. Thanks a lot!

Honestly it's really what you're looking for and what you make of where you are.

As a tech, you're gonna go to a ship for your first tour. So that's either Norfolk, Mayport, San Diego, Bremerton, Hawaii, Yokosuka, or maybe even Rota.

Personally I started out in Mayport and was sent to a Frigate for my first tour. Neither the homeport nor the class of ship were even on my top 3, but honestly it was the best place I could've gone and I didn't even know it yet. Had way more port visits than most of my friends (Frigates pulled in more often and were usually independent deployers), my shop was incredibly tight knit (I still talk to most of them several times a month), and Jacksonville ended up being a cool place to be. So if your heart is super set on something, know that something even better might be around the corner and you can't even see it yet.

So like I said, it's more about where you want to live and what kind of environment you wanna be in. As a first tour sailor however, you might not get much choice. You don't really get much a voice in picking orders until you're 2nd tour. Reason being the majority of folks only do 1 enlistment, so the Navy is gonna take the safe bet and say you too might be in that category; so they send you where you're needed most. If they've got room though, they're gonna try and get you where you want to go.
