dustyw 05-16-2012 07:34 AM

Looks fun!

MasterAtArms 05-16-2012 10:27 AM

Awesome, I cant wait! I leave for RTC in 5 days I cant wait for A-school

Laworlo 05-16-2012 11:55 AM

Not going to lie, having somebody dress up in pads from head to toe and then being able to beat them with sticks sounds a bit fun!

prop827 05-16-2012 02:27 PM

Ah yes, pepper spray still brings a smile to my face hahaha

MA.Bitler 05-16-2012 03:02 PM

i would do it all over again if i could! minus the OC spray.

Laworlo 05-16-2012 07:51 PM

Pepper spray is not part of boot camp correct? Just the confidence chamber? Or does everybody get the chance for painful eyes?

MA.Bitler 05-16-2012 11:31 PM

just the gas chamber in bootcamp, which wasnt nearly as bad as pepper spray for me, the gas chamber didnt really bother me to much, all i got was a runny nose and a little stinging in the eyes, but i have had problems with my eyes for years.

Laworlo 05-17-2012 12:57 AM

I have contacts, so I understand eye pain. Every time an eyelash gets underneath, my whole world turns upside down lol

MA.Bitler 05-17-2012 01:14 AM

yeah i do too, and my eyes dont tear naturally as much as they are supposed to, so they're always dry and the littlest things make them itch and burn so much.

Laworlo 05-17-2012 03:01 AM

Same. Chronic Dry Eye....plus I have extended wear contacts so I take them out about once a month. Not a good combo. lol

MasterAtArms 05-17-2012 08:05 AM

Think it would help me if I put eye drops in prior to getting prayed??

Laworlo 05-17-2012 11:57 AM

Probably not. as it intensifies in liquid.

MasterAtArms 05-17-2012 12:17 PM

Haha okay, im just trying to figure out if there is anything at all I can do before to help haha

Laworlo 05-17-2012 12:45 PM

I hear afterward that pouring milk on your eyes helps neutralize the acid in the pepper spray. But I'm guessing anything really that is heavy alkaline would do they job.

sweetmtn 05-17-2012 04:32 PM

I would suggest that you do NOT wear your contacts for that one event at your A school!

MasterAtArms 05-18-2012 06:54 AM

20/20 vision, so glad about that one haha

MA.Bitler 05-18-2012 07:14 AM

i want to get lasik so bad, but im not sure if there is anything you can really do before, its going to hurt like a bitch to no matter what, afterwards they have you wash your face and eyeballs with johnson & johnson no tears baby soap, it was decent, im sure there are better ways out there, but it helped.

prop827 05-18-2012 10:54 AM

There is no "making pepper spray easier". It doesn't work like that. Milk afterwards helps, they also make OC removal wipes, haven't tried them though so idk if they work. The point is, you're gonna get sprayed if you are an MA or if you do the FP Training (which not everyone does!!!!).

Haasino 05-18-2012 11:14 AM

I've had the wonderful experience of being OCed twice in the past: once for certification in the academy, and once when I was wrestling a DUI suspect on a boat and my partner missed his target... full-force in the face; eyes and mouth open... and I still had an angry drunk guy I had to restrain on the bow of a 25ft power boat! It sucked! Best way to cope with it is to flush your face and eyes with water, and then stand in front of a fan and let it dry out... don't keep flushing your eyes because it'll just intensify again.

MasterAtArms 05-18-2012 11:39 AM

okay good advice, haha Cant wait to be in A-school. Only 3 days till RTC

Haasino 05-18-2012 03:45 PM

Another thing to remember: when you shower that night, you'll still have some residue on your face and in your hair (not sure how much hair you'll have at that point in training). When you shower off, make sure to bend way forward or way backward to keep the water from running down your body... in other words, protect your nether regions! :surprised:

MasterAtArms 05-19-2012 07:30 AM

:What: Oh that would suck so much worse haha. I think that might be some of the best advice I have gotten on here hah. Thanks!

MA.Bitler 05-19-2012 11:49 AM

haha yeah, i'll never forget in a school, when sitting at the smoke pit after OC, and multiple guys came down nearly in tears "my junk is fire dude" haha, dont be a dumbass, its water activated, so as long as you still have residue on you, its going to burn alllll over again. and use cold water, and wash your face and head off multiple times first, then shower.

TrooperTaff 06-13-2012 10:05 PM

in boot as an MA do you have any special duties?

prop827 06-14-2012 09:23 AM

No, everyone does the same thing in boot camp, a divisions master at arms is very different than the rate of master at arms. In boot, the division MA is in charge of cleaning. Other than recruit leadership (RPOC, AROC, MA, etc), which is chosen kind of at random (not based on rate), everyone does exactly the same thing.

MA_Henken 01-31-2013 05:39 PM

I cant wait, I ship to RTC in 18 days and its gunna be kick ass! Boot camp, A school, the whole nine yards, im looking forward to everything

geeMA 01-31-2013 06:07 PM

A school was fun. just remember, dont attack the skunks caused they'll spray at you. lol

snfreak1967 02-02-2013 10:49 AM

A School was interesting.... It has started getting more intense in the disciplinary area, people keep messing up in big ways there. My advice don't break the rules it sounds simple but people will still do it and everyone is blamed. And when it comes to OC, wash, fan your face, and eat lots of candy. Nothing is going to make the burn any better and the instructors will say so.

camfurr 02-27-2013 06:55 PM

Just got here on Sunday, and we've already finished NMT. We class up on monday. Can I expect anything unexpected to happen?

AustinMA 10-17-2014 10:26 PM

How fun was it getting tasered?

Auridan 10-17-2014 11:20 PM
