Do MA's go on ships. If they do how many are typically on one ship? I have heard that they really do not go on ships very often an was hoping to get some info on it.

It does happen, but it's not terribly common. Large decks such as carriers do maintain a security department, although it's small and only a fraction of that is junior sailors (E4 and below).

Small boys (DDGs, CGs, etc) typically only have one MA and it's pretty much always a 1st Class or above.

You best bet as an MA to get aboard a ship is to make it a career and keep pushing for sea duty later down the road once you're a bit more senior. The problem is just that there aren't a ton of jobs on board ships that they need an MA to fill. Standard security duties are already covered by trained personnel from the ship.

Thanks CTT1,
I was just wondering because guarding on a ship seems a little bit more exciting than guarding on a base lol!

You'll have your shot if you're around long enough!

Ship's security is actually done by just about anyone.
The MA1 or MAC is overall in charge of parts of it, but the actual armed watch standers can be any rate (just about everyone rotates through the position)
