Just wondering if you guys had any info about the counterintel/human intel career or c school. Having a lot of trouble finding anything about it besides that it seems to exist(NEC IS-3913).

It's not something we can really discuss here or openly in general, for obvious reasons. But I've worked with those guys a few times and they really seem to enjoy the work. It's not nearly as Hollywood as you think it would be, but it's still very, very important work.

And do the IS tend to spend more time on shore or is it regularly deployed?

More time on shore usually, as that's where most of the major analytical bodies are. Getting to a ship or something is usually very difficult and is usually PO2's and PO1's, depending on the size of the ship. The major shore side spots are going to be things like ONI for fleet intel support units.

Deployments are still possible though depending on your command. As a junior IS you can totally end up somewhere like an aviation squadron or something, in which you would deploy with them obviously.
