No Bank Account

I ship Feb 3rd for RTC. I do not currently have a bank account at all and I read in the start guide that i would have to bring information pertaining to accounts with me. I also read in there that if I did not have one I could sign up for one. I asked my recruiter but he has not given me a clear answer on if I should open an account before I leave or not. Whatever help you could give would be appreciated.

If you don't bring bank account information, you'll open a Navy Federal Credit Union checking/savings account.

I heard that Navy Federal was the way to go, too. That's what I'm going to do.

I had a navy federal account set up while I was in DEP, brought account information with me to bootcamp. saved me from signing up and messing with things while in boot camp. then again there were also a lot of people in boot camp that signed up for it there and was fine. moral of the story is, just go with navy fed, they're a good bunch, they pay early, they refund you up to $20 a month of ATM fees, 24/7 customer support. I really don't have anything bad to say about them.

I love my Navy Fed account. Access to that and USAA are freaking fantastic.
