Im trying to get ready for RTC and I was wondering how they do the sit-ups and push-ups? Is it to cadence? Are you able to rest in the 2 minutes while you're doing them?

No cadence. You do as many as you can in 2 minutes. Your partner counts for you and then reports your score to the RDCs. You can rest in the up position.

Does that include the situps too?

For the bigger guys (or girls): When it comes to push-ups, hands can be placed directly beneath shoulders, or slightly wider than your shoulders.
I always thought my hands had to be directly underneath my shoulders and it was a bit hard for me to accomplish that. So if anyone ever had that idea in their head then that should clear it up. For me I have to go a bit more wide since my chest is a little too big for me.

^ This is a great video for Aircrew and SpecWar DEPpers, and is a great guide for all sailors to strive for... but, for those who are struggling, the tests at RTC and in the fleet are generally pretty "sloppy" when it comes to proper form. You're going to be lined up in several rows as an entire division with about 3-5 people watching 80+ recruits... make an effort to look decent on your form and don't slack off if an instructor is walking past or looking your direction.
For the few AW's here... this is how you need to be performing your push-ups and sit-ups at NACCS... you're going to be in a class of 12-25 and will most likely have enough instructors present during your PST-In and PST-Out to have at least one set of eyes on you at all times. Don't be the candidate who gets there making your minimums "Navy-style" and suddenly risks getting dropped when you can't pass doing them "Aircrew-Style". I have a friend from bootcamp who was dropped from NACCS and re-rated because she failed her PST-Out by 1 push-up. She needed 19... she did 32... they only counted 18 as proper.
