IT seaduty question

Ok of all the ratings ctn, ctm, and it are among the top of my list. From everything I've read your pretty much guaranteed to get seaduty for your first tour which leads to my question. As an IT what all does seaduty entail from day to day work activities to the working environment and living conditions. Thanks

CTNs don't get sea duty under normal circumstances. They go out to a ship for a very brief period of time, then come back home.

No one is guaranteed sea duty these days. A whole lot of people are going to shore. Almost my entire A school class got shore.

On a ship it's going to depend on how big the ship is. A frigate will be totally different than a carrier. There are two sides to the IT rate, ADP and RADIO. ADP is computers/networks. RADIO is communications. Small ships you will probably be responsible for both.

I guess I should be more clear what I was wanting to know is generally speaking what would one expect during Seaduty such as standard of living, how often would one be at Port, and more specifically what is Seabury like for the it rating.

I'm an IT what "c" school would I have for a 4 year contract?

Sea duty varies greatly depending on what type of ship you are on. A LCC with lots of officers will go port to port very quickly and standards of living will be pretty high. On a carrier you may be in the water for a long time since they don't refuel and can't fit in some ports. I haven't been on a ship. I'm still in C school.

4 year ITs don't have an initial C School. You can request one once you get to your first command, but it is at their discretion.
